CNC milling machine setting workpiece coordinate system zero

In the operation of CNC milling machine, there are two kinds of countersinking methods: organic countersinking and external countersinking. The so-called internal tool setting tool directly determines the workpiece coordinate system. The external tool setting tool requires the use of a tool to measure the radius of the tool and the height of the tool nose relative to the reference surface.

1. Set the workpiece coordinate system zero (as shown in Figure 1)

Figure 1 Setting the workpiece coordinate system zero

1) Tool setting operation

Set the manual main function status of CNC milling machine

The tool is located on the left side of the workpiece and slightly touches the left side of the workpiece. The X coordinate value is recorded.

The tool is located on the front side of the workpiece and touches the front side of the workpiece slightly, recording the Y coordinate value.

The tool is located above the workpiece, slightly touching the top surface of the workpiece and recording the Z coordinate value

2) Workpiece coordinate system origin coordinate calculation

X0=-(∣X∣-d /2)

Y0=-(∣Y∣-d /2)

Z0=Z

2) Set the workpiece coordinate system

Move the tool to the coordinates of X0, Y0, Z0. At this time, the tool location coincides with the zero point of the workpiece coordinate system. Set the zero milling subfunction state of the CNC milling machine. Set the coordinate values of X0, Y0, Z0 to zero and establish the value in the CNC system. The workpiece coordinate system with the tool point as the origin.

Fig. 2 Tool setting method

As shown in Figure 2, determine the radius of the blade tip to the spindle axis of each blade and the height of the blade tip to the reference surface, and calculate the difference between the height of each blade and the height of the standard tool tip. After the tool parameters are input to the CNC system, the CNC tool automatically implements tool radius compensation and tool length compensation through the tool compensation commands.
